Sadly, we will have quizzes for this course. This is not something that I used to have in this course but I've found that (unfortunately) some students need a bit of extra incentive to do the readings for the course. If you do the readings, you will do well on the Quizzes. If you don't do the readings....Professor McGonagall will not be amused!
There will be several quizzes given over the course of the semester. These will not be announced ahead of time. Yes, the dreaded pop-quiz!!! Each of these quizzes will be taken online during class and will typically be multiple-choice or (very) short essay in format. These will not be NEWT-level questions, and anyone who has done the readings for that day should easily be able to complete the questions. Please note: In some ways, these quizzes connect very closely to the Participation part of your grade. Taken together, these two components are worth 15% of your grade.
